SUSPICIONS:Episode 12

It was a little past nine when I got back into the house. Charlice was awake, she was watching a Mexican soap.
“Have you had anything to eat?” she asked.
“Yeah. We ate out.”
She waited, expecting more but I said nothing. I was sharing her room with her, a very pink, room it was, with a few cream colored teddies.
“And…? ”
“And I ate like I was starving and we went to the movies and I’m back here.”
She was laughing… “Oh please!”
I rolled my eyes and went to the bathroom.
I returned and she told me Aslem called. “oh, okay.” I simply said. . She turned to me. “Will you call him back?”
I shook my head, “no….not tonight.”
She looked at me for a little longer, before going back to her laptop. “Sometimes, you are very scary.”
I didn’t know what to say or how to reply that, so instead, I laid down and dreamt of Trevor.
The next few days were out of a book. We picked Johnny from school, then, in the afternoons, Trevor taught him how to bounce a ball and aim it into an open ended basket. Sometimes I joined but most of the time, I just stayed around with Charlice.
One evening,, she said to me. “You know, Trevor really likes you…. He can’t keep his eyes off you.”
“Did he put you up to this too? ” I asked.
She held my stare with her own, her eyes unreadable. “Nope.” She took the last of her piece of pizza. “and you should start learning to believe in people again. ”
I laughed. “I trust you Lisa. I trust Trevor too and Johnny…….. And to an extent, Aslem too.”
“Good choice, ” she chuckled.
Charlice was a crazy girl, I always made sure she never forgot that. Earlier in the year, we were both first year students and there was a party we were invited and Charlice insisted I come with her. She promised some nice booze, even though I didn’t drink. And she promised lot of cute white dudes, I told her I was not interested. She promised me a lot of niggers then, I was not interested either. Then she said, “forget it. Who says you had a choice anyway?”
And I went with her, because she was crazy. She would ruin my life if I didn’t come.
That was where I met Trevor. Somewhere in the Middle of the party, Charlice left to go dance away with some hunky looking guy and I was left at the mercy of anyone who thought he had a chance. I was frustrated at the many sleazy, drunks, undressing me with their eyes and asking if I wanted to dance. Then a white boy who I had noticed staring at me earlier, took the seat next to mine. The guy was Trevor. The first thing he said was, his hands raised in surrender, “hey! I am Trevor and I think you are very beautiful.”
He didn’t want to dance or to get me drunk. He just wanted to sit and talk with me. I told him, I thought he had it planned with Charlice all evening, and he did not deny it. I also told him I was not interested in dating a white boy and he chuckled goodnaturedly. “That’s racist.”
I liked the sound of his laughter and the way his eyes sparkled beneath the lights and how they said so much without words. It was the first time, in my entire life that I had the awareness of being liked, the way he looked at me. It wasn’t anything he said or did, it was just the way he did them.
The other night, we were passing under the lights and he just pulled me to him and kissed me senseless. It was tentative and certain, silly, sensible. It was romantic. It gave me a heady feeling, like nothing I had ever had, better than smoking pot and getting high. We didn’t even smoke pot these days.
He also scared me. Sometimes, I got this feeling that this thing between us, was too idealistic, that I didn’t deserve it. It was too delicate and maybe one day, it will slip through my fingers and crash into a million pieces.
And sometimes too, I wondered what he was going to tell me that night at the park.

The Romantic Illusions that Ceiling Fan Light Combos Generate

There are many reasons why ceiling fan are becoming quite popular once again particularly ceiling fan light combos that are energy efficient and uses less space. Yes, I have let the cat out of the bag! Ceiling fan light combos have a high energy efficiency rate and they utilize lesser space since they also serve as light fixtures.

Romantic Illusions that Ceiling Fan Light Combos Generate

Beyond the factor of charm and aesthetics, the whirling subtle sound of ceiling fan blades evokes a sense of romantic illusions of the past as the cool breeze they generate washes over our body.

Ceiling Fan Light Combos as Energy Savers

Using ceiling fan light combos during winter naturally circulates the warm air dormant in our rooms and helps in making us experience a lesser cold winter in our homes. Some ceiling fans can whirl in reverse thereby generating additional heat to warm up our rooms in winter.

During summer, using a ceiling fan in combination with our air-conditioner allows us the liberty to set the AC’s thermostat higher with any noticeable change in the temperature of the room. By increasing your thermostat you save energy. Some ceiling fan light combos come with four paddles while others use the traditional three blades. For those who have low hanging ceilings, flush mount ceiling fans are more suitable, and will give you the same effect that the average length ceiling fans would.

Conclusion

There are different types of ceiling fan light combos and they can be fitted anywhere in our house be it the living room or even on the veranda! Ceiling fans are generally energy saving source of air re-circulation but ceiling fan light combo are more energy efficient because of their combine usage as a ceiling fan and as a light fixture; thereby saving us some valuable dimes on that electric bill.

SUSPICIONS: Episode 9

He shrugged, “probably, but it’s more likely it was meant to be. She overdosed herself. Her timing was just wrong….but why do you think that it may not be suicide?”
A memory of mum, when she was receiving the medal last year, flashed through my mind. She had addressed the congregation, a black among many whites and she had not been afraid. I had been very proud of her. She hadn’t looked like a drug addict, a cheater, or mentally scrambled to me. She had never missed I or Johnny’s PTA, she gave us treats.
“Because,” I said, addressing him. “I have known my mother for all of my life. You have only known her for two weeks of investigation. My mother couldn’t have been a drug addict,” I began to cry but I would not stop speaking. Why was everything bent on making mother the criminal? “….or a cheat, or a liar. You don’t know my mother like I do. You can’t come here and tell me these things. Check your reports again, sir…”
Aslem held me, consolingly. Every hope I had that mother was innocent, that maybe she had fallen off by mistake and hadn’t meant to kill herself was shattered. Until then, I didn’t know I had been hoping for that.
Suddenly, there was not a enough air to breathe, not a enough space to turn. It was one thing, trying to get yourself to believe your mother killed herself, it was another, to believe she also had a condition she was hiding from you. “I understand your point of view, Miss Forrest-”
“No, you don’t.” I interrupted. “She was my mother.” I looked towards Johnny, his eyes were sad and lonely. “Our mother,” i whispered.
He shrugged. “My guess is nobody knew about this all this time. Your mother hid it well.”
It occurred to me then, that Aslem had not said anything since. I turned to him, fury pounding in my blood. “No… I think someone did.”
He looked guilty as hell. “Yes, I did.”
“You what!” My legs yielded beneath me. I collapsed against the wall. I cringed away when he tried to help. I hardly noticed Inspector Owen’s imaginary hat tipping before he left with his partner. L I could only see a lying hypocrite like my mother in front of me.
” And all this time you were pretending?”
He seemed to have gone dumb all of a sudden, which infuriated me further. “Tell me!” I screamed. Tears began to stream down my face. “How long have you known what my mother was?”
“Jane, come on, we will talk inside, please.” The tears blinded my eyes, I couldn’t see properly. I couldn’t make sense of anything he was saying. “Were you waiting for her to rise from the dead to tell me herself? Why did you act like you did not know what those reporters were saying? Why did you not tell me then? Why did you wait until now?”
“Dammit Jade! Don’t make me the bad guy here. I was trying to protect you. You and Johnny. You didn’t have to face that.”
“Really?”
“Calm down Jade….listen to me. You are taking this more seriously than it should.”
“That all of this, everything I ever knew had all been a lie you and mum told us is not serious enough?”
He looked exasperated. “I know Jane, I know I should have told you…believe me. I would have but I found out a few weeks myself and your mother begged me not to tell you. She told me she was receiving treatment and I believed her….” He was still explaining, but I didn’t care anymore. “….She threatened to kill herself if I told you.”
“No Aslem, you have no idea.”
I was filled with contempt. Was this what he had been telling me when he kept saying mother loved us very much, was this it, the love? Because he knew it was all a lie, because he and mother were party to this. He hid the truth all this time from me and now, she was dead. I was crying so much, and the blood kept pounding in my ears. Maybe if I had known, mother wouldn’t be dead now, maybe I could have helped, maybe I could have stopped her, maybe I wouldn’t have had that fight with her and insisted on my choice but I did not know and because of that, my mother was dead.
“I fucking can’t believe you did this.”
Every sober moment she had had, every quiet stare and missed meal, became signs I had missed. Those days when mum locked herself in her room, to read, might have been when she took her drugs. The strong woman I had believed in,the hero who stuck her neck out for others, the success story I wanted to relive, had all been a farce. The heaviness of the memory threatened to annihilate me. I wanted to hide from it, to bury my head in the sand, to cease to feel, think or remember. That I could escape from it all, my mother, and her secrets, Aslem and his betrayal, even Johnny’s sadness because I could not make them go away. The tables were turned against us.
“Where are you going?” Aslem asked, looking fearful. “Don’t do anything stupid Jade. Its getting late.”
Everything was in a haze. My face was hot, the rest of my skin felt cold and numb, down to my thumb. I couldn’t feel anything in them. I clutched my chest as a sudden raw pain, gripped me there, like someone was clenching my heart with a mean fist. It left me hot in the face and gasping for breathe.
“What do you care Aslem?” I asked, my voice heavy with venom. “You let our mother die, you could have saved her but you didn’t….. I will never forgive that.”
I stumbled out into the street, no idea where I was headed, except the overwhelming desire to get away.

Somewhere in a distant corner of my mind, a little boy was crying and a thousand cars honked but I did not care, it didn’t occur to me that I had that luxury anymore.
Who was my mother, what was she, why were all this happening, what were her secrets, how many more would I find? My world, and all I thought I believed in, was gone, evaporated before my eyes. I truly was on my own.

SUSPICIONS: Episode 8

SUSPICIONS: Episode 8

Inspector Owen shook his head. “There’s no need for that. They all clicked. You were with your cousin, Clinton at the Club and it was true. You left by past four, and got home by a few minutes after five and that was when you saw Mrs. Forrest and you called for help as soon as possible. All of these were verified.”
We both breathed, deep, big signs of relief. His innocence was as important to me, as it was for him. I don’t know what I would do if he were guilty. I squeezed Aslem’s hand.
“I was only doing my job.” He explained. It was as close to an apology as we could get.
“We understand.” Aslem said. I was in agreement. Johnny was waiting somewhere near the landing stairs. He had a better sleep, the night before so he looked better.
“So, about helping me,” he looked earnestly at both of us. “Is there any strange behavior any of you might have noticed in the deceased?”
I was quick to answer. “No inspector, my mother was perfectly okay.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes. She was not dysfunctional in any way to me,”
He whipped out a pen and a writing pad. The professional pose, was intimidating. “Are you going to investigate me too?” I asked.

He chuckled, still writing. “Wouldn’t you make a grand murderer?”. I didn’t find it funny.
He turned to Aslem, I turned to him too. “What about you sir? Did you notice anything?”
Aslem looked at me, then the inspector and back to me. .”Officer, what is this about? Did you find anything?”
The inspector turned to me, “please, can you excuse us?”
Aslem looked uncomfortable, like he knew something I did not. “I am sorry officer, but I am not going anywhere. This is my mother we are talking about here. If there’s anything going on with her investigation, I deserve to know.”
Inspector Owen shrugged, helplessly. “If you insist.”
“I do insist,” was my reply
Aslem, scratched the back of his ear. I saw him from the corner of my left eye.
“We have some evidence to believe that your mother was heavily abusing drugs at the time of her death.”
My mind went black, completely blank like a switch went off in my brain. In a moment, the switch came back and I was gaping at the cop.
“What?”

My mind went back to the first time mother had caught me with some pot. A girl in school had asked me to try it. Mum had sat down with me and asked me to smoke it in front of her. Of course, I didn’t. Then she told me, “whatever it is, that you have to hide from me, or be a fugitive for, is not worth it.”
It hadn’t stopped me from trying it, but it had taught me to say no, more times than I ever said yes, it had taught me, to be her friend. “This is crazy.”
Inspector Owen shrugged again. “That is what the report says. At first, we didn’t believe it, and we sent the results back again. It came back, still positive. Your mother had some methamphetamine in her system.”
That hit me like a wedge in my stomach. “How?!” I screamed in shock. “I don’t get you Inspector. What the hell are you talking about?”
“You said you wanted to stay and hear.”
I brushed aside his sarcastic remark with a wave of my hand. “For how long had this been going on?”
He gave another of his halfhearted shrugs, which was now beginning to chaff on my nerves. “Test results do not tell that. It could have been her first time, it could have been going on for years… You choose. We also found out she had a lover, but tracing him have proved elusive. He is like a ghost.”

An unexplainable headache seized me. It felt like my head would burst into pieces. I had no idea, no inkling. What was my mother, lying hypocrite? Who was my mother, a sociopath? What was she taking drugs for? For how long had she been battling depression? She had been cheating? These and a thousand more questions swirled through my head.
“Officer, is it possible that perhaps her death was not a suicide?” I asked hopefully.

DID NIGERIAN MUSICAL SUPERSTAR DAVIDO MISTAKENLY KILL HIS BESTFRIEND TAGBO Umeike?

More details emerging on the death of Tagbo Umeike’s.

I was dating Tagbo before his death, but he wasn’t the father of my last child – Caroline Danjuma.
.
.
Actress Caroline Danjuma has come out to react to the viral claim that late Davido’s friend, Tagbo, was the father of her last child. Reacting to the news in an interview with SDK, Caroline said: .
.
“I met Tagbo when i was legally divorced and out of My ex’ house to start a new life. Yes we were dating. My daughter is 3 years old and I only met Tagbo last year, so its not possible that tagbo is the father of Elizabeth.
.
.
Let us leave sentiments aside, trying to blackmail me to keep quiet will not work or change anything. We need justice for Tagbo. I contacted someone who remembers seeing davido and tagbo at DNA and remembers there was a fight. .
.
This person also told me there was a bet, the same thing my neighbour said. And Tagbo drank 30 shots of tequila and got intoxicated and wanted to drive his car but Davido refused and said Tagbo should drive with him. .
.
That was what i heard and that they drove to G12 and got out leaving Tagbo in the car all locked up and that one of the crew members came back saw tagbo gasping for air.
.
.
He was taken to general hospital where he was confirmed dead and they left him there. I sent Davido personal messages but he did’nt reply until i called him out on the social media and he told me to take down the post and he would tell me what happened. .
.
I took down the post and told him to come to the police station but he never showed up. Tagbos phone and shoes are missing and someone went on Tagbos IG and deleted all the videos he posted of being with davido on that day and eventually deleted the account. .
.
We quickly munched all the videos on snapchat. Tagbo was with Dammy Krane, Davido and Asa asika. Davido knew that Tagbo was dead but kept quiet. He told the Police later that he would have spoken out if i didnt call him out on the social media..can you imagine.
.
.
We want to know what happened and how tagbo died. Davido we are not calling you a killer but we need to know what happened to Tagbo. You owe him this because he loved you like a brother. He took you like a brother. Do it for him. Please.”

Forgive me if I sound mean but I never knew a woman who had dated a Danjuma would date a Tagbo (age wise oh abeg). Love has a way of creeping up on us. I hope she finds closure. He must have been a great guy sha…Just wondering, Caroline Danjuma with Davido’s friend. Time is a revealer…

Davido and other HKN crew members have been invited by the police.
